Paving Crew Foreman
Location: Lloydminster, Saskatchewan/Alberta
Reporting directly to the General Superintendent, the Paving Foreman is responsible for the safe management and completion of hot mix asphalt paving projects. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work overtime when required and demonstrate superior safety awareness. Leadership and guidance and the ability to mentor and train new team members are positive attributes to possess.

In return for your dedication and outstanding service, you will be rewarded with a competitive wage ranging between $28.00 - $35.00/hour. During the summer months there are plenty of opportunities to earn overtime as well. Our overtime rates are 1.5X rate after 10hrs/day or 80 hrs/pay period (2 weeks) and 2.0X rate after 132 hrs./pay period (2 weeks). During the off-season (November to April) it is typical to maintain a 40 hour work week.

Essential Job Functions
- Manage and direct all aspects of the asphalt paving spread.
- Engage in open communication with the General Superintendent to discuss and plan production needs and requirements.
- Ensure adequate tonnage and trucking is ordered by communicating on-going with the asphalt plant and truck dispatch.
- Maintain company policies and safety measures to ensure the safety of the crew members and the travelling public.
- Practice leadership and encourage learning by assisting and training new crew members.

Required Competencies
- Thorough understanding of urban (municipal) paving practices.
- Proficient knowledge of hot mix asphalt pavements, various types of mixes and their density and compaction requirements.
- Competent ability in survey techniques regarding layout and grades.
Complete understanding of civil drawings (blue prints) and industry and contract design specifications.
- Strong ability to recognize and deploy the proper equipment and manpower required to be efficient in executing the various activities to complete the project.
- Ability to manage personnel and identify deficiencies in underperformance due to incompetence, fatigue or substance abuse and make critical decisions to rectify or remedy.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, a strong work ethic and have the ability to follow verbal and written instruction and communicate effectively.
